The "Dose of Nature" site, organised by Jake Robinson at the University of Sheffield, hosts podcasts about the health of humans, the health of the environment, and all of the connections in between. Jake recently interviewed me for one of these podcasts on the theme of "The Old Friends Hypothesis". We discussed the role of contact with the natural environment in forming our microbiota and "educating" the immune system.
Many hundreds of talks all round the world, mostly at international conferences. I make no attempt to list them below. More recently I have been doing more PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT lectures and I am experienced at talking to all kinds of audience. I do not keep records of these talks, but some are listed on my personal website, with links to recordings or videos when available.
I have represented the British Society for Immunology (twice) at the Edinburgh Science Festival and also at the Cheltenham Times Science festival.
I spoke recently at a Cafe Scientifique meeting in Brighton (given a 5 star rating)
I would be happy to do more of these.
PINT OF SCIENCE
Talking for this global science festival on 21st May 2019
I lectured to science students at the North London Collegiate School for Girls, and the talk was greatly appreciated. An enormously stimulating audience..... would be happy to do more school talks. More recently I have lectured at one of the Haberdasher's schools, and I am about to talk at the Bishop Thomas Grant School in Streatham.
I have several times been involved in presenting science in programmes for the BBC, including Horizon. Links to those that are still available online will be found on my website. http://www.grahamrook.net/
I have explained aspects of human biology to lay audiences in several documentaries, the most recent was "Life on Us", made by an Australian company, Mona-Lisa Production, Smith & Nasht, and also ARTE and SBS.
Milan Expo 2015
I spoke in the Italian Pavilion at Milan Expo 2015. This invitation is nice evidence of my reputation for being able to speak to a general audience.
Numerous radio interviews, some listed at http://www.grahamrook.net/Interviews/interviews.html together with recordings when available.
