Highest qualification: Doctorate (PhD, DPhil)
I'm a statistician, epidemiologist and science communicator. I received my PhD from Edinburgh University in 2016, where I used statistics and models to understand disease emergence - how and why new viruses jump from animals to humans, and whether we can predict the next pandemic before it happens.
Currently, I'm a lecturer with Coventry University, where I'm exploring newer ways of teaching statistics. As an Ambassador for the Royal Society of Statistics, I also act as a media contact for improving public communication of statistics and risk. I can also often be found talking stats or disease at comedy events like Bright Club, and have performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
